George Udezue

1937 - 2021

Amalachukwu has passed on to a better place....

George, (in his last decade he took to calling himself Amalachukwu - the grace of God) was a force of nature. An idealist who wanted the world to run just so; according to his own community-focused and moral compass. This made his life purposeful in many beautiful ways. It might even have been a bit of a weakness; who knows? But that is the way of things, perfection is hard to find in one body. But he came as close as he could (and many people can attest to that) and that is more than enough for one life.

He was thoughtful, intellectual, bold and strong. He challenged the status quo ALL the time. He believed in bending the world to his will. Having him around meant change of some sort was coming; you just had to get ready for it. He helped people he didn't even know. And of course many he did. He loved and invested in the Udezue family. He was dedicated to his family, community and his craft.

He was all these things and more. He will be missed.

We hope you will stop by the memorial site and and leave a note or a memory of how he affected your life. We heard many stories while he lived. But we're hearing even more now he is gone. Many cultures, and certainly the Igbos, believe in the power of story telling. We would appreciate if you told your stories here about him.

So please, upload a photo you may have of him. Or tell a story.

If you feel moved to contribute in some way you can do so here.  We plan to use any money contributions for his burial and to donate to causes that align to his values. We also value calls, texts and notes as we navigate this time of both grief and celebration. You can reach us here.
